April 29, 2021. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the data of a survey on whether Russians are eager to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
An overwhelming percentage of Russians favor mass vaccination (65%). They are opposed by 17%. Those who support vaccination are basically respondents aged 60 and older (81%) and those aged 45-59 (71%), as well as residents of Moscow (69%) and St Petersburg (72%).
A vast majority of Russians (70%) are confident that mass vaccination will help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and new Covid outbreaks. One in five respondents hold the opposite view (20%).
Forty-six percent of Russians are willing to get vaccinated with a Russian vaccine; 39% refuse to get a Russian vaccine. Eleven percent of respondents have been vaccinated. Russians aged over 60 are more likely to show interest in the Russian vaccine: 19% of them are already vaccinated; 52% intend to get vaccinated.
Russian nationwide VCIOM-Sputnik survey was conducted on April 26th, 2021. A total of 1,600 of Russians aged 18 and older took part in the survey. Results are based on telephone interviews. Stratified dual-frame random sample based on a complete list of Russian landline and mobile phone numbers was used. The data were weighted according to selection probability and social and demographic characteristics. The margin of error at a 95% confidence level does not exceed 2.5%. In addition to sampling error, minor changes to the wording of questions and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork can introduce bias into the survey.
