22% admit that they spend too much time in the Internet. The share of them among active Internet users is 48%.
MOSCOW, September 30, 2013. On the Day of the Russian Internet the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning how many Russians recognize that they spend too much time in the Internet, in social networking systems, checking their e-mails, as well as watching TV and using their mobile phones.
22% of Russians admit that they surf the Internet too often (22%). Sixteen percent of Russians say that they can hardly do without social networking systems. Less Russians recognize that they check their e-mails often (11%).
Every fifth respondent (19%) says that he/he spends too much time watching TV or using mobile / smart phones.
As to active Internet users, 48% of them report that they surf the Internet a lot, and 34% of them use social networking systems all the time.
18-24-year-old Russians cite that browsing the Internet and social networks takes too much time (53 and 44%, respectively). They also say that they use their mobile /smart phones too intensively (39%). At the same time, elderly respondents say that they spend too much time in front of their TVs (28% vs 14% among young Russians).
The VCIOM opinion polls were conducted on September 21-22, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
