Almost half of Russians believe that there is a global government striving to control the planet. According to respondents, it comprises oligarchs and world leaders but basically those who come from the U.S.A. and England.  

MOSCOW, September 17, 2014. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the information concerning the following issues: whether Russians believe that the world government exists; who its members are; and what they are pursuing.

A relative majorotyof Russians (45%) agree that there is a global organization which controls the governments of the world. Those who think so are mainly respondents with higher education diplomas (51%) and high income (53%), and non-parliament parties’ supporters (56%). One-third of respondents (32%) oppose them stating that such a structure does not exist. The share of the undecided makes up 23%.

Those who believe in the world government say that it is pursuing the world leadership (32%). Every tenth (10%) is confident that all members of the world government satisfy only self-interests. Some believe that they are eager to conquer lands (2%), to weaken countries or to unleash wars (2%). Only 3% say that this organization is striving to achieve the common good.

The world government comprises top businessmen, according to 22% of Russians Others say the members are politicians from all around the world (5%), western politicians (2%) or namely B. Obama, J. Bush, Elizabeth II et cet. (3%). Two percent of respondents are confident that the world government consists of the oligarchs and politicians. Six percent of respondents cite the U.S.A. (Americans); masons were mentioned by 4%.

The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on August 23-24, 2014. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. Data are weighted by gender, age, education, working status and type of settlement.  The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
