MOSCOW, July 9, 2007. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents information concerning how Russians treat the Memorial to the Soviet soldiers being relocated from the center of Tallinn, how the Russians treat the Estonian government.

More than half of Russians (56%) mention that they are deeply concerned with the very fact that the Memorial should be relocated from the center of Tallinn. The older the respondents are, the more typical this answer for them is (ranging from 43% among the youth of 18-24 years to 68% among the respondents of 60 years of age and older). 28% of the respondents feel lightly disturbed by the issue. 14% indicate that the issue does not disturb them at all, whereby the share of these answers falls from 25% among the age group of 18-24 to 9% in the "60+" age group. Strong concern regarding this issue is more typical of the supporters of "Fair Russia" and "KPRF" (73% and 66%) than of those supporting "Unified Russia and LDPR" (59% and 53%).

"Estonian government removed the Memorial on purpose to anger Russia", as two thirds of Russians assume (65% from the 52% among the youth to 73% among those over 60). Another 15% of the respondents agree with the sentence only partially. Only 8% of the respondents do not share this point of view, notably practically equal shares of all age groups think that way (7%-10%). The question caused the most difficulty among the young people, the share of those for whom it was difficult to provide an opinion on the issue falls from 22% among the 18-24 group to 14% among the 25-34 group and to 9%-11% among those older than that. The overwhelming majority of Russians (80%) would rather describe their attitude to the Estonian government with a "minus sign" and no more than 5% of the respondents mentioned the "plus sign".

Representatives of different generations of Russians are on the whole united in their attitude to the Estonian people (it is reserved-positive) and also in their attitude to the government of this country (it is sharp negative)

The All-Russia opinion poll was conducted by VCIOM on June 1, 2007. 1595 respondents were interviewed in 153 population areas of 46 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
