For most of Russians the press conference of Vladimir Putin was interesting. The most interesting topics were the relations between Russia and Ukraine.

MOSCOW, December 27, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the following questions: whether Russians were interested in the V. Putin press conference; whether they were satisfied with the president`s answers; what answers they remember.

More than one-third of Russians knew what the conference of Vladimir Putin was about; at the same time, 10% of respondents had an opportunity to watch it live on TV; 19% could see certain episodes; 12% learned the key issues discussed during the conference from the TV news. Half of respondents (57%) report that they did not follow the press conference. The 2013 data have few differences compared to the results of the poll conducted last year.

Most of Russians (78%) think that the answers of V. Putin were interesting. Every fifth respondent (22%) had big interest in the Putin`s performance; 46% were interested in particular subjects; 10% cited that the press conference was interesting but too long. Eleven percent of respondents report that they were not impressed by the press conference of V. Putin; 8% were disappointed.

Two-thirds of Russians were satisfied with the way Putin answered the questions (66% - the same share as in the previous year). Only one –quarter of respondents (26%) are not satisfied with the comments of the president.

The most interesting topic was the relations between Russia and Ukraine (18%). Respondents also mentioned amnesty to prisoners (8%) and the situation in the Vanino Port (6%). Russians also liked what Putin told about pension reform, the development of the Far East, the situation in the housing sector and the initiative to make the subsoil resources public (4%, per each). Three percent of Russians support the amnesty to Khodorkovsky. Russians also mentioned fighting against corruption and state officials` salaries (3%, for each).

The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on December 21-22, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
