MOSCOW, October 22, 2007 Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents information concerning what impression the Russians got of V. Putin's dialog with the citizens in a live television forecast on October 18 and his answers to the citizens' questions.
The majority of Russians (64%) are informed of the live television forecast of the President's dialog with the citizens, this includes 15% who followed the dialogue with close attention, 33% watched several separate fragments of the forecast, and 16% have learned about the main questions that the citizens asked and V.Putin's answered from news telecasts. In comparison with the situation in 2005 the number of respondents who followed the live television forecast of the dialogue from the beginning up to the end has reduced from 22% to 15%, at the same time the share of those who learned about the main questions and answers from mass-media has increased.
Over one half of respondents identify, that the President's address was interesting, including 23% who specify, that the whole address was interesting to them; 26% indicate that they found some of the issues covered interesting and some not, to 6% of respondents the address seemed interesting, but a little too long, 4% thought it to be boring, whereas 3% have been disappointed. The share of respondents who perceived the public address as interesting has increased during the two years from 19% up to 23%.
On the whole 50% of respondents are satisfied with how the president answered the questions of Russians. Only 8% are not happy with it. The number of respondents unsatisfied with V. Putin's performance has reduced during the last two years from 15% down to 8%.
Best of all the respondents remembered the questions and liked the answers of the president related to salaries, pensions, welfare payments, benefits, workplaces, unemployment (14%); social policy, education and public health services, habitation, housing and communal services (8%); defensibility, army, the military (7%); economy and finance, internal policy, land (6%); inflation, a rise in prices on food stuff (5%).
The respondents would have liked to ask V. Putin first of all about salaries, pensions, welfare payments, benefits, workplaces, unemployment (13%); social policy, education and public health services, habitation, housing and communal services (7%); motherhood and childhood, the demographic situation (4%); inflation, a rise in prices on food stuff (4%); authorities: V. Putin's personal plans for the future, the government, political parties, elections, corruption (4 %); standard of living, the gap between the rich and the poor (3 %).
The initiative All-Russia opinion poll was conducted by VCIOM on October 20-21, 2007. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 153 population areas of 46 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
