The “old opposition” ratings are decreasing; the “new opposition” ratings are close to zero.
MOSCOW, June 11, 2014. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the information describing the trust ratings of the political opposition.
Most of Russians name G. Zyuganov (6.7%) and V. Zhirinovsky (6.3%) as persons to whom they would trust the solution of top national problems when asked without prompting about that; in 2013, the share of such answers made up 8% and 7.2% respectively. Only 1.2% trust Sergey Mironov, and 0.4% trust G. Yavlinsky. Young opposition leaders are not popular: only 0.7% trust Mikhail Prokhorov (this figure has decreased by four times over two years (vs 3.2% in 2012). The least trusted leader is Alexey Navalny (0.1% in May vs 0.5% in January this year).
The leader of the anti-rating is Vladimir Zhirinovsky; every fifth Russian distrusts him (20.6%); this share made up 19.6% in 2013. He is followed by Gennady Zyuganov (8.4%), Mikhail Prokhorov (4.6 %), Sergey Mironov (3.3%). Alexey Navalny is placed fifth (1.9%); the share of Russians who distrust him has considerably increased over a year (from 0.9% in 2013); Grigory Yavlinsky is ranked sixth (1.8%).
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on May 31 – June 1, 2014. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. Data are weighted by gender, age, education, working status and type of settlement. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
