Muscovites assess the performance of Moscow`s mayor Sergei Sobyanin more positively, compared to the previous year. Most of them are satisfied with his work.

MOSCOW, October 21, 2011. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing the feelings that Muscovites express toward mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin, as well as their assessment of the results of the first year of his work.

Muscovites tend to treat S. Sobyanin positively: 32% have positive emotions about Sobyanin; 15% think he is an active person. Five percent of respondents like him; 3% trust him; 2% respect him and 1% hope for him. Some respondents also say that S.Sobyanin is better than the previous mayor (1%). Negative attitudes are expressed by 13% of respondents. The overwhelming majority of Muscovites do not have any strong feelings toward the mayor: 7% are neutral; 22% have no emotions; 5% do not have their own opinion about the mayor yet.

Compared to the previous year, more Muscovites have positive attitudes toward mayor (from 24 to 32%), regard him as active man (from 3 to 15%); however negative attitudes have also strengthened (from 2 to 13%).

More than one-third of residents of Moscow positively assess the performance of Sobyanin`s work (69%). Those who approve of the work of S.Sobyanin most are elderly Muscovites (75%), respondents with average level of income (78%) and supporters of the United Russia party (83%).  Fifteen percent of respondents assess his performance negatively: mainly young respondents (21%), those with high level of education (19%), supporters of the LDPR and Yabloko parties (22% for each).

The opinion polls were conducted September 15-26, 2011 in Moscow. 1200 respondents were interviewed. The margin of error does not exceed 3.2%.
