MOSCOW, October 04, 2007 Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents information concerning what Russians think of politicians who occupy the first three places on the parties's lists of Union of Right Forces, Yabloko, Fair Russia, LDPR and the Communist party, KPRF.

The majority of Russians only know one politician from each of the lists, who as a rule occupy the first place in them. Union of Right Forces (SPS) forms an exception with the famous Nemtsov standing on the second place in their list. Only 3-4% of Russians do not know who the leaders of the first three on the KPRF and LDPR lists (G. Zyuganov and V. Zhirinovsky) are, whereas politicians from the first three of these parties (Z. Alferov and N. Kharitonov, A. Lugovoy and I. Lebedev) are not known to every second respondent (51-54%). 7% of respondents have never heard of the politician № 1 on  the Yabloko's list, i.e. G. Yavlinsky, the other two members of the first three of this party - S. Ivanenko and S. Kovalev - remain unknown to two thirds of respondents (64-66%). As far as the first three politicians of Fair Russia are concerned, 14% of respondents do not know S. Mironov, 57% S. Goracheva and 73% S. Shargunov. A similar pattern can be observed in the first three of SPS: 11% do not know B. Nemtsov, 56% N. Belykh and 73% have never heard of M. Chudakova.

Russians are more likely to treat these politicians negatively (One can only hear positive and negative reviews of Z. Alferov's activity equally frequently: +19%, -20%). The most typical emotion in respect to these politicians turned out to be indifference, especially, when the matter touches upon G. Yavlinsky (44%); B. Nemtsov (39%), S. Mironov (37%), G. Zyuganov (35%). As far as other emotions are concerned, B. Nemtsov, G. Yavlinsky and G. Zyuganov are more likely to cause antipathy (16-18%); V. Zhirinovsky arouses antipathy as well (18%), but he causes interest still more frequently than that (22%); S. Mironov becomes the target of interest and respect (12% and 11%), Z. Alferov respect only (12%).

The supporters of Fair Russia are more likely to treat S. Mironov positively (+66%, -22%), whereas they frequently think negatively of S. Goryacheva and S. Shargunov (+21%, -30% and +5%, -10%). They primarily feel respect (34%) towards S. Mironov, and also interest (19%), sympathy (13%, but frequently indifference as well (14%). He rarely becomes the source of antipathy and censure for his electorate (5% and 3%). S. Goryacheva is generally treated by her party's supporters with indifference (25%), in this case sympathy and respect towards her are more characteristic of what the voters feel (on 8%), than antipathy and condemnation (3% and 2%). S. Shargunov is not known to the majority Fair Russia's voters (72%).

The general attitude that LDPR's voters have towards V. Zhirinovsky is essentially positive (+93%, -5%), A. Lugovy is generally thought of neutrally (+20%, -18%), whereas I. Lebedev is often more negatively looked upon (+9%, -18%). Two thirds (62%) of LDPR's supporters treat V. Zhirinovsky, primarily, with respect, 24% with sympathy, 7% with interest. He very rarely causes negative emotions, i.e. antipathy, condemnation (4% and 1%), and almost never indifference. № 2 of the party list presents A. Lugovoy, who became ill-famous in connection with the diplomatic conflict with Great Britain; he is generally treated by LDPR's supporters with interest (14%) or indifference (11%). V. Zhirinovsky's son I. Lebedev is more likely to cause the voters' indifference and antipathy (9% and 8%).

The first three politicians on the Communist party list are rather evaluated positively by the supporters of this party, most likely so G. Zyuganov (+86%, -11%), to a lesser degree Z. Alferov (+25%. -9%) and N. Kharitonov (+27%, -14%). The most characteristic emotions of the KPRF voters in connection with G. Zyuganov are respect (62%) and sympathy (16%), Z. Alferov is often thought of with respect (15%), N. Kharitonov with respect or indifference (15% and 13%).

The All-Russia opinion poll was conducted by VCIOM on September 29-30, 2007. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 153 population areas of 46 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
