Russians know well Russians flag and emblem; they are less familiar with the national anthem, but it is the anthem that most of Russians feel admiration for.
MOSCOW, August 20, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning how well Russians know national symbols, as well as what they feel for them.
Generally, Russians know well Russian national symbols; what they know best is national anthem (86%). This is followed by national flag: correct answer - 96%; 70% know colors and their arrangement. What Russians know worse is national anthem; however there have been a positive trend over the recent two years: the share of those who remember the first lines has increased from 39 to 54%.
Russians feel pride and admiration for national symbols, especially for Russian national anthem (54%). The shares of those who admire flag and emblem are 49% for each group. Likings towards national symbols are expressed by 30-34% of respondents. Rarer Russians say that they are indifferent toward national symbols (14-16%); only few respondents feel negative emotions.
The VCIOM opinion polls were conducted on August 10-11, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
