The politics of the Russian president is supported by 59% of respondents; ten years ago this share made up 75%.
MOSCOW, September 11, 2012. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the views that Russians have about V. Putin; whether they support the presidential policies, and how Putin influences the situation in the country.
Fifty-nine percent of Russians favor Vladimir Putin. They are basically supporters of United Russia party (88%), women (65%), Russians with low level of education (69%), and rural area residents (64%). Whereas ten years ago it was hard to reveal those who did not favor V. Putin, today it is clear that they are men (27%), residents of middle and big cities (25-26%) and Russians with high level of education (25%).
Policies of Putin as president are approved by 59% and not supported by 23% of respondents. Those who do not support his policies are mainly men (29%), respondents who have higher education diploma or the level of education above average (24-25%), and residents of middle cities (28%).
Most Russians (60%) are confident that Putin has strong or even very strong influence on everything that is happening in the country. Ten years ago, in 2002, the assessments were almost the same. Those who think so are supporters of United Russia party (74%), Russians who support the Putin policies as president (71%), women (62%), and residents of small and million-cities (65-66%). Only every tenth person says there is no any influence of Putin on the situation in the country. Those who think so are supporters of LDPR party (19%), those who do not approve of his activities (25%), men (10%), and residents of big cities (17%).
The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted on August 24-25, 2012. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
