RUSSIAN CONSTITUTIONAL VOTE: VCIOM EXIT POLL RESULTS
Taking into account the results of the exit poll VCIOM has revised the projected outcomes upwards.
MOSCOW, JULY 01, 2020 Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) has carried out a Russian constitutional vote exit poll (a survey among voters leaving the polling stations) at the request of the Expert Institute for Social Research.
The survey took place at 800 polling stations in 25 Russian regions. VCIOM interviewers invited the voters leaving the polling stations to take part in an anonymous survey. The voters were asked to indicate which way they voted - “for” or “against” the amendments to the Russian Constitution.
As of July 1st 2020 (8 p.m. Moscow Time), a total of 445,345 persons had taken part in the survey; 69.9% of respondents agreed to answer the question; 30.1% refused to answer.
The data of the exit poll suggest that 71.2% of those respondents who agreed to answer the question were in favor of the amendments; 28.3% were against.
The Southern Federal District shows higher levels of support for the proposed amendments (75.6% are “for”; 24% are “against”) (other ratios: 70.1:29.4 in the Siberian Federal District; 69.6:30.1 in St Petersburg; 69.3:30.3 in the North Western Federal District; 67.5:31.3 in the Far Eastern Federal District).
Prior to the nationwide vote VCIOM had had a forecast of 67% to 71% of Russians in favor of the amendments. With the exit polls data from 25 regions this projection has been revised upwards: 74% to 75% are likely to vote “for”, whereas 24% to 25% “against”.
Below are the results of seven-day exit polls conducted by VCIOM (June 25 - July 1).
