The United Russia electoral rating keeps increasing for the second consecutive week.

MOSCOW, December 22, 2016.  Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the electoral rating of parties, rating of trust in politicians, and the assessments of the performance of public institutions.

The electoral support for the United Russia party has been increasing over the second consecutive week: according to recent data, 48.0 % of Russians would vote for this party. The LDPR rating has not changed much over a week (12.0%), whereas the public support for the other two parliamentary parties has slightly declined: CPRF – from 9.4% as of December 10-11 to 8.2% as of December 17-18; A Just Russia party – a decrease from 7.8% as of December 3-4 to 4.9% as of today over the second consecutive week.

Confidence in Vladimir Putin keeps increasing: according to latest data, the share of those who trust the president is 61.3%. Top three most trustworthy political leaders also include Sergey Lavrov (14.4%) and Dmitry Medvedev (13.7%). The least trustworthy leaders are Vladimir Zhirinovsky (21.7%), Gennady Zyuganov (10%) and Dmitry Medvedev (8.8%).

The approvals of the job of the president (86.0% as of December 10-11 and 85.8% as of December 17-18) and the job of the prime minister (60.8% and 61.1%, respectively) have seen a slight change in the recent week. The presidential job approval dynamics is more pronounced: 62.0% as of December 10-11 and 60.9% as of December 17-18.

The VCIOM survey was conducted on December 17-18, 2016  in 130 settlements, 46 regions and 8 federal districts of Russia, with a sample of 1600 persons representative of the Russian population aged 18 and over according to sex, age, education, type of settlement. The survey was conducted with multi-stage stratified sample based on general rule of walking and quotas at the final selection stage.  The margin of error (taking into account the design effect) with 95% confidence interval does not exceed 3.5%. The survey method is community-based structured face-to-face interviews. Apart from the margin of error, minor changes in question wording and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork should be taken into account.
