Over two consecutive weeks the rating of the Putin`s performance has been at high levels against the backdrop of the successful Winter Olympics and deterioration of the situation in Ukraine and Crimea.
MOSCOW, March 6, 2014. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the presidential job approval ratings.
Over two consecutive weeks Russians have highly approved of the performance of the Russian president (67.8%). This is against the backdrop of difficult political situation in Ukraine and in Crimea (“event of the week” for 53% of respondents), successful ending of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and preparation for the Paralympics (42%).
The average presidential approval rating has been above 60% over the recent two years. The previous maximum was recorded in May 2012 (68.8%) – right after the V. Putin`s presidential inauguration.
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on March 1-2, 2014. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. Data are weighted by gender, age, education, working status and type of settlement. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
