Most of Putin`s promises given during the pre-election campaign seem quite realistic and deserves to be supported, according to Russians.  

MOSCOW, March 21, 2012. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing how Russians assess national security ideas proposed by V.Putin, which pre-election promises they remember most, and how realistic they think they are.

According to Russians, the most realistic idea is o provide those who have served in the army with additional privileges to enter university or civil service72% are confident that this idea will be implemented in next 5 or 10 years.  Most of respondents believe in the idea to provide the servicemen with salary equal or above the level of salary of qualified personnel and senior managers (58%) and to introduce a priest assigned to each military unit (56%). Half of respondents believe that by 2017-2020 Russia will restore its position as a leader in military technologies (50%) and will have military police to maintain discipline within the Army (50%). Russians are least optimistic about the idea to provide the servicemen with housing in 2012-2013: the number of those who think the idea is real is 46%, whereas 36% are skeptical. 

Top three Putin`s promises that Russians remembered most are to increase defense capacity (5%) to keep the existing retirement age and to increase pensions (12%), and to increase living standards (8%). Besides, the ideas to develop social sphere, to increase budget worker salaries (4% for each), to make housing more affordable, to combat corruption, to develop economy and keep stability in the country (3% for each) also attracted Russians.  Other promises are rarely mentioned.  

Most of respondents believe that V. Putin will keep his prep-election promises: 37% -most of them, 41% - some of them.  Only 15% report that ideas of Putin will not be put into action.  At the same time the majority of Russians do believe in the implementation of social promises (59%), in his promise to keep stability in the country (57%), to increase salaries to budget workers (51%). According to Russians, the promise to make the housing affordable (49%) and to increase country`s military capacity (48%) will be partly implemented.

The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted February 25-26, 2011. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
