MOSCOW, November 16, 2007 Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) studied the popularity of brands for household appliances among the population of Russia using the IFORS branding methodology.

The household appliances sold under the brand of "Samsung" enjoy the greatest popularity among Russians. This is the brand that a third of respondents mentioned (36%). It is interesting to note that it is better known among the residents of big cities (with the population of more than 1 million people - 56%).

The people at the age of 25 to 34 years constitute the principal group of buyers for this type of appliances (36%), that being respondents with higher education (34%) and a high level of income (29%).

A quarter of Russians (26%) remembered "Indesit"; 20% of respondents name "Bosh" among the first. LG, "Stinol" and "Ariston" turned out to be less recognized. Each of these brands gathered the vote of 11% to 18% respondents. The Belarusian "Atlant" and "Biryusa" from Krasnoyarsk obtained 6% of the respondents' votes each.

The rating of the best known brands of household appliances looks a little differently in the Central Federal district: "Indesit" enjoys the most popularity here, whereas "Bosch" occupies the second place, and "Samsung" stays on the third one (34%, 30% and 28% respectively).

On the whole men are slightly better informed of the brands of household appliances, than women, however the structure of brand popularity among remains practically the same for both sexes.

The initiative all-Russia opinion poll was conducted by VCIOM on June 23-24, 2007. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 153 population areas of 46 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
