As before, the politician of the year is Vladimir Putin, and the artist of the year is Sergey Bezrukov. The most popular movie is “Stalingrad”.

MOSCOW, December 26, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the most popular politicians, athletes, actors, musicians, writers, TV programs, TV series and movies of the year 2013.

Persons of the year

As before, Russian politician of the year is Vladimir Putin (44% of respondents). He is followed by Sergey Shoygu (8%) and Sergey Lavrov (7%). Vladimir Zhirinovsky (6%) and Dmitry Medvedev (5%) round out the rating.

The most popular athlete for the second consecutive year is Evgeny Plyuschenko (10% in 2013 and 9% in 2012). The second place is taken by Е. Isinbaeva (5%), the third one - by А. Ovechkin (3%).

Sergey Bezrukov is recognized again as the actor of the year (7%). He is followed by К. Khabensky, М. Averin, Е. Mironov (3%, for each), S. Bondarchuk, Е. Boyarskaya, В. Mashkov (2%. for each, et cet.

The most popular Russian singer of the year 2013 is Philipp Kirkorov (6%), followed by Stas Mikhailov on the second place (5%); a year ago the situation was reverse. Russians also cited N. Baskov (5%), G. Leps and A. Makarevich (4% for each), A. Pugacheva and D. Bilan (3%, for each).

For five consecutive years the writer of the year has been Daria Dontsova (6% in 2013).  The second place is held by B. Akunin (2%); the share of respondents who cited other names is less than 2%. Generally, Russians were hard to answer the questions.

TV programs, TV series, movies of the year

The programs aired by the First Channel (“Pervy Kanal”) are the most popular ones. The leading TV show is “Pust govoryat” (“let them talk”) TV show (15%), followed by the “Golos” Project (8%); the third place is held by “Davai pozhenimsya” and “News” at the same time (5%, for each). Respondents also mentioned “Pole Chudes” and “Vesti” program (4%, for each), “Zhdi menya”, “K barieru”, “Bitva ekstrasensov” (3%, for each), et cet.

“Ottepel” is most popular TV series (6%); the winner of the last year «Interny» series slipped to the second place (5% in 2013 and 8% in 2012). Russians also loved “Svaty” TV series (5%), “Voroniny” 4%), “Velikolepny vek” (“Magnificent century”), “Molodezhka”, “Sled”, “Tayny sledstviya” (3%, for each), et cet.

The most popular movie of the year is “Stalingrad” by F. Bondarchuk (12%), whereas last year Russians liked the “Twilight. Saga”. The second place is taken by the Russian movie “Legend No. 17” (4%).

The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on December 14-15, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
