After the terrorist attacks in France the western countries must stand united against terrorist threat, according to more than one-third of Russians.
MOSCOW, November 27, 2015. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the data describing the reaction of Russians to the Paris attacks.
The Paris terrorist attacks (explosions, shooting and a hostage situation on the night of 13-14 November, 2015 drew a wide response in the Russian society: 93% of respondents knew about what had happened during the survey.
Most of Russians (61%) blame the ISIL for the terrorist attacks. Rarer respondents cite Islamist groups (6%), armed gangs not related to terrorists (3%). at the same time certain respondents (7%) believe that the explosions may be organized by a special service of a particular country.
The European countries and the U.S. must stand united against the terrorism, 37% of Russians think. Besides, the Western countries should increase vigilance to ensure security for the population (11%), listen to Russia (7%) and solve the migration problems (4%, etc.
Russian opinions concerning the consequences for Russia are different: 42% believe that nothing will change in Russia; 41% oppose them stating that “certain changes” may happen (including 25% of those who predict “considerable changes”). Those who expect consequences are afraid of new terrorist attacks (27%).
The Medialogia company analysis shows that a total of 70 thousand references devoted to the Paris terrorist attacks were found in the Russian media in November 2015. The most popular headlines refer to the terrorist attacks in the French capital, the investigation, the world community reaction and strengthening the security measures.
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted November 21-22, 2015; 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 settlements in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.5%. Russian media monitoring and analysis were carried out by the Medialogia Company using approximately 28 600 sources such as television, radio, newspapers, magazines, information agencies and online media. Research period: November 13-23, 2015.
