Protest rallies are still approved by one-quarter of Russians, but only 7% of Russians would participate in them. The share of those who are indifferent keeps increasing.
MOSCOW, September 20, 2012. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing whether Russians keep track of the opposition movement in Russia, and how they perceive the opposition actions today.
Opposition actions attract the attention of 39% of Russians. They are basically supporters of non-parliament parties (70%), Muscovites and St. Petersburgians (48%), and active Internet users (44%). Fifty-nine percent of respondents are not interested in that: they are basically supporters of A Just Russia party (64%).
The public attitudes towards opposition rallies have not changed a lot. Not more than one-quarter of Russians still support these actions (24%); 7% are ready to take personal part; 35% are indifferent. The same share of respodnents perceive opposition actions negatively.
Those who support opposition actions are mainly CPRF adherents (48%). Those who are ready to participate in them personally are young Russians (10%), metropolitan residents and residents of million-cities (11%). Supporters of United Russia party disapprove of these actions (46%).
The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted on August 25-26, 2012. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
