59% of Russians support the idea to introduce obligatory notification for persons holding dual nationality; 66% support designing national payment system; 57% support the idea to sell gas and oil for rubles.
MOSCOW, May 22, 2014. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the information describing the attitudes of Russians toward new initiatives by the State Duma.
Two-thirds of Russians support the idea to design national payment system that would substitute for the international payment systems VISA and MasterCard (66%). They are equally young Russians (61% aged 18 - 24), respondents with low income (63%), respondents aged 60 and over (61%), and Russians having high income (65%). One-fifth of Russians (21%) have negative attitudes toward this initiative.
Most of Russians (59%) are positive about the initiative obliging Russians holding dual citizenship or residence certificate of other counties to submit notification to Russian state bodies. The idea is mostly supported by elderly respondents (64% above 60), rural area residents (67%), and CPRF adherents (68%). The part of those who have negative attitudes is 28%.
Fifty-seven percent of Russians agree with the initiative allowing Russian companies selling gas and oil to foreign companies for rubles. Those who share this idea are basically Russians aged over 60 (64%), and residents of middle cities (63%). They are opposed by one-thirn of Russians (32%).
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on April 26-27, 2014. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. Data are weighted by gender, age, education, working status and type of settlement. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
