According to Moscow residents and guest, the capital has almost everything for comfortable life; the only thing that needs improvements is environment.
MOSCOW, September 4, 2015. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the results of the survey devoted to the Russian opinions on the changes in Moscow urban ambience and public places over the recent five years.
Metropolitan residents and people who have visited Moscow in recent years mark substantial improvements in the cultural sphere such as the increased number and availability of recreational spaces (65%), places to do sports (62%), museum and exhibition halls (62%).
According to most of respondents, improvements were mentioned in road construction, repairs to courtyards (63%). Every second (52%) notices positive changes and growth in the number of Internet websites that allow city inhabitants interacting with city administration and using public services. About 40% mark positive changes in science a technologies (44%), business and economy (39%), promotion of energy efficiency technologies (37%). Thirty-three percent of Russians say that Muscovites get considerable social assistance, as never before.
Negative changes refer to environmental degradation in the city (43%). According to 28%, the availability and quality of school and university education has gone down; however, 23% disagree with that. Assessments of the Moscow policlinics` performance are similar (28% of respondents have negative and 23% have positive opinions).
According to Medialogia analysis, the most visible Moscow events mentioned in mass media over the recent year have been Moscow metro anniversary, Moscow Duma elections and Boris Nemtsov murder.
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted August 29-30, 2015; 1600 respondents were interviewed in 132 settlements in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.5%.
Monitoring and analysis of the Russian media publications were carried out by the Medialogia Company using 26500 sources such as television, radio, newspapers, magazines, information agencies and online media. The rankings were based on the Event Visibility metric defined as a sum of publications on a certain topic in the most prestigious media. Research period: September, 2014 – September, 2015.
