Today Russians are more worried about inflation, problems in housing and communal services sector and low living standards.
MOSCOW, September 4, 2011. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VICOM) presents the data describing what problems Russians think are most important for Russia today.
Three major national problems still include inflation (53%), situation in housing and communal services sector (52%) and low living standards (51%). Other important problems that Russia is facing today are alcoholism and drug abuse (48%), corruption and bureaucracy (42%), and unemployment (40%).
This is followed by health care issues (38%), pension provision, situation of youth (35% for each), problem of crime (27%), situation in education sphere, state of moral (24% for each).
Russians are least worried about issues referring to the influence of oligarchs on the life of the country (20%), situation in the army (19%), economy and ecology (18% for each), demography and terrorism (17% for each), delayed payment of salaries (13%). As before, least important issue for Russians is democracy and human rights (11%).
Over the recent month Russians have paid more attention to the situation in housing and communal services sector (from 46 to 52%). They have put less attention to alcohol abuse (from 55 to 48%), unemployment (from 45 to 40%), and crime (from 31 to 27%).
Supporters of the CPRF party are greatly concerned about pension provision (50%); supporters of the LDPR party are anxious about the problems of the housing and communal services sector (55%). This issue is also important for the electorate of the Fair Russia party (59%); they also mention inflation (59%) and corruption (56%). Supporters of the United Russia party are seriously concerned about alcoholism and drug abuse (53%). Non-parliament parties` adherents point out situation in housing and communal services sector among important ones (55%).
The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted September 24-25, 2011. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
