The vast majority of Russians do not want Euromaidan to occur in Russia.
MOSCOW, March 12, 2015. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the results of the survey devoted to the attitudes of Russians regarding the possibility of Euromaidan-type riots in Russia and probability of mass protests.
Asked whether they want Euromaidan to happen in Russia, respondents give the same answer unanimously: 94% of them do not want such a scenario to happen in Russia (94% in February 2014). This stance is equally shared by young Russians (94% of those aged 18-24) and elderly respondents (93% of those aged above 60), metropolitan residents (95%) and rural area inhabitants (95%), respondents with low level of income (93%) and high income (95%). Only 2% oppose them (13% of them disapprove of the presidential work).
Three-thirds of Russians (76%) are confident that Euromaidan-type protest actions are not possible in Russia (this share has almost stayed the same (75% in 2014). This point of view is supported by respondents with high level of income (80%), those who graduated from the universities (79%) rather than those with low level of income (71%) and low level of education (65%). They are opposed by 15% of respondents (40% of those who disapprove of the work of the president; 27% of the A Just Russia party).
The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on February 21-22, 2015; 1600 respondents were interviewed in 132 communities in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.5%.
