MOSCOW, March 4, 2010. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing the qualities ideal mother, wife, lover, friend, colleague or chief should have.
The image of woman is very diversed in Russians' opinion. Good mother should be careful (67%), thrifty (66%), clever (37%), have ability to resist misfortune (39%) and empathize (35%), wife should be thrifty (61%), loyal and clever (47%). In a different way Russians see the image of ideal lover. She should have good look, be sexual (49%) and temperamental (30%). Friend needs such qualities as ability to empathize (49%), decency (42%) and intellect (35%).
The main thing for woman at work (colleague and chief) is intellect (60 and 46%) and being organized (47 and 46%). Orientation toward success is more important than decency (41% and 31%) for chief and vice versa for colleague.
As compared with 2001 Russians began to appreciate more domesticity (from 56% to 66%), ability to resist misfortune (from 32 to 39%), ability to empathize (from 28 to 35%) in mother, domesticity (from 47 to 61%) in wife, decency (from 20 to 31% in chief, ability to earn money (from 12 to 23%) in colleague. Temperament of lover (from 39 to 30%), appearance of chief (from 22 to 15%) and fidelity of friend (from 40 to 29%) became less significant.
For men women's appearance is especially important but they appreciate less than women care (62 and 71%), ability to resist misfortune (36 and 42%) and to earn money (8 and 13%) in mother, on the contrary they are more attentive to good look (13 and 9%). Good appearance of wife for men is more valuable than for women (36 and 28%), it's the same with lover (53 and 45%) and colleague (20 and 14%). Women more than men appreciate decency and ability to empathize in friend (37 and 47%, 41 and 54%) and in colleague (37 and 49%, 11 and 19%).
The initiative Russian opinion poll was conducted on February 27-28, 2010. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 140 sampling points in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4 %.
