For the retired persons the top problem is the situation in the housing and utilities sector, whereas young Russians mention inflation.
MOSCOW, March 15, 2013. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the information concerning the problems that Russians are most worried about.
The situation in the housing and utilities sector is the problem Russians were most concerned about in February (60%). The nation`s top problems also involve inflation (52%), low living standards (51%), followed by corruption and bureaucracy (46%), healthcare issues (42%), alcoholism (36%), unemployment (33%), pension provision (32%), and drug addiction (31%).
Another half of the ranking is represented by the state of the youth (29%), moral issues (27%), situation in education (26%), crime (26%), influence of oligarchs on the life in the country (25%), and ecological issues (20%). Less important problems mentioned by Russians are situation in the Russian army (16%), demographic situation (14%), terrorism (11%), democracy and human rights (11%). Least important problem is delays in paying salaries (9%).
Elderly respondents are most concerned about the problems in the housing and utilities sector (73%). They also put attention to the situation in the healthcare (53%) and pension provision (54%). On the contrary, Russians aged 18-24 name alcoholism (41%), drug addiction (43%), unemployment (39%), and the state of the youth (45%).
The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted on February 23-24, 2013. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
