MOSCOW, August 14, 2007 Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents more data acquired within the framework of a survey, carried out by VCIOM upon the request of the Central Election Committee of the Russian Federation.
Russians most of all trust members of election committees if they are teachers and professors (39% of the respondents). Doctors and jurists (on 25-26%) share the second place in the rating of trust; the third place is occupied by the military, library assistants, workers of other cultural-educating institutions, and also relatives and acquaintances of the respondents (19% for each option). Authority officials and representatives of political parties enjoy less trust (8-11% for each option). Only 15% of the respondents do not have trust in anyone. Just as many respondents have find it difficult to provide an answer to the question.
The higher the level of the education of the respondents, the greater among them was the share of those, who trust jurists (this share ranges from 22% in the group with elementary education and lower to 31% in the group with higher and not completed higher education) and representatives of the military (from 15% to 23%) as members of election committees, and the less was the share of those, who do not have confidence in anyone (18% and 11%).
12% already have personally worked as part of an election committee. 16% of the respondents would want to participate in the work of the committee (including 4% who have already worked there).
The share of those who have worked in the election committee increases starting from 4% among the respondents with elementary education and lower to 20% in the group with higher and not completed higher education. The percentage of those, who would eventually want to participate in the work of an election committee, grows simultaneously ranging from 7% in the group with the lowest level of education to 19% in the most educated group.
The potential of the coming election committees are the youth; 19% of the respondents in the age group of 18 to 24 years express the desire to work as part of an election committee, whereas this share does not exceed 10% in the oldest age group (60+).
The All-Russia opinion poll was conducted by VCIOM on May 17-27, 2007. 3000 respondents were interviewed in 153 population areas of 46 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
