MOSCOW, March 19, 2010.  Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning the assessment of Dmitry Medvedev's activity on the Presidency by Russians and his portrait in the eyes of his fellow-citizens.

A half of Russians (51%) appreciate the way Medvedev manages his duties: 41% suppose that he does it well, 10% - excellent. Approval is expressed by supporters of United Russia (68%), inhabitants of Siberia (58%) and young people of 18-24 years old. More than third of respondents give satisfactory estimate (36%). Generally they are supporters of Liberal and Democratic Party and Just Russia (44 and 43%), inhabitants of Urals (43%) and Russians of 25-44 years old (38-39%). Those who give negative assessment (12%) are in the minority: 2% - very bad, 10% - not very well. As a rule these are supporters of Communist Party and Liberal and Democratic Party (28%).

Among Medvedev's voters high estimate is given by 65% of respondents. Those who supported other candidates didn't participate in elections are inclined to give satisfactory estimate (42-44%).

As before the head of state evokes hope (45%). There are more Russians who feel respect to the President (from 15 to 33%). Our fellow-citizens are inclined to feel sympathy (18%) and trust (17%). Such negative feelings as disappointment, mistrust (7%), scepsis (5%), blame, antipathy (2%) are rarely met. 10% of respondents are indifferent to Dmitry Medvedev. 

Describing Medvedev as a personality people attach him positive features: intellect (56%), professionalism (32%), steadiness (30%), and activity (29%). Rarer Russians pointed out resolution (23%), modesty (15%), closeness to the people (14%), honesty and flexibility (13%). Negative features are mentioned rarely: 12% - isolation from the people, 4% - passivity, 3% - indecision, limitedness, etc.

During last years the number of those who indicates the following features of the President increased: intellect (from 48 to 56%), steadiness (from 22 to 30%), resolution (from 10 to 23%), and flexibility (from 9 to 13%). At the same time the amount of those who consider the head of the state to be isolated from the people rose as well (from 3 to 12%). The amount of respondents who point out professionalism decreased (from 39 to 32%).

The initiative Russian opinion poll was conducted on March 20-21, 2010. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 140 sampling points in 42 regions of Russia. The margin of error does not exceed 3.4 %.
