Crimean residents do not accept the Ukrainian energy supply conditions and are ready to tolerate temporary electricity suspension until an energy bridge between Crimea and continental Russia can function at full capacity.

MOSCOW, January 1, 2016. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the results of the survey describing the attitudes of the residents of Crimea towards the Ukrainian conditions for the signing of the energy supply agreement.

An overwhelming majority of Crimea’s residents rebel against the Kiev energy proposal: 93.1% disapprove of the Ukrainian proposal to indicate in the agreement that Crimea and Sevastopol are part of Ukraine; the idea is supported only by 6.2.% of Crimeans. 

The peninsula residents can wait for other solutions: 94.0% are ready to tolerate temporary energy suspension in the near three or four months, if the agreement is not signed under the Ukrainian conditions; they are opposed by 5.4% of respondents.

The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted in the Crimean Federal District from 31.12.2015 to 01.01.2016; a total of 3025 respondents were interviewed; the margin of error does not exceed 2.0%. A total of 500 persons were interviewed in Sevastopol; the margin of error does not exceed 4.5%.
