IN BRIEF

February 26, 2021. The data below present the Russian views on the merger of “A Just Russia”, “For Truth” and “Patriots of Russia” parties.

The level of awareness about the merged party is rather low: every third Russian is aware of the new party (33%).

More than one-third of those who are aware perceive the merger in a positive way (39%); half of respondents are indifferent (48%). Eight percent of respondents have negative perceptions.

When asked “Which of the following parties would you vote for, if the State Duma elections took place next Sunday?, 11% of Russians opt for the “A Just Russia – Patriots - For Truth” party.

According to 67% of Russians, the merged party is likely to focus on Russia's “special path”. Twelve percent consider that the party is likely to pursue Russia’s integration into the world community.

Fifty-five percent of respondents believe that the party will advocate social justice; 22% say it will focus primarily on market economy.

Russian nationwide VCIOM-Sputnik survey was conducted on February 21, 2021. Results are based on telephone interviews with 1,600 Russians aged 18 and older. Stratified dual-frame random sample based on a complete list of Russian landline and mobile phone numbers was used. The data were weighted according to selection probability and social and demographic characteristics. The margin of error at a 95% confidence level does not exceed 2.5%. In addition to sampling error, minor changes to the wording of questions and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork can introduce bias into the survey.
