Russians have got more trusting other people.
MOSCOW, October 11, 2010. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data describing whether Russians trust people around them, or think that they should be cautious when dealing with people.
Most of Russians are still confident that they should be cautious when dealing with other people; however, the share of such respondents has decreased over the recent fifteen years (from 76% to 69%). Every fourth respondent think that people can be trusted in general (26%, in 1998 - 22%).
More trusting are residents of North Western and Southern Federal Districts (30 and 31% respectively). Those who think one cannot be too careful when dealing with people are basically residents of Siberia (76%), far-easterners and respondents residing in North Caucasus District of Russia (74% for each).
Russians aged 18-25 believe that people can be trusted (32% versus 24-26% in other age groups). The share of such respondents is highest among respondents with high level of education (28%) and income (36%).
On the contrary, respondents with low level of education (74%) and income (76%) think one cannot be too careful.
Remarkably, the Internet users are more open compared with those who do not use the Internet (29% versus 24% respectively).
The initiative Russian opinion polls were conducted on September 11-12, 2010. 1600 respondents were interviewed at 138 sampling points in 46 regions of Russia. The margin oferror does not exceed 3.4%.
