42% of Russians support the idea of boycotting Ukrainian goods; 45% consider that Russian business should stop operating in Ukraine until the civil war ends.

MOSCOW, July 8, 2014. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data concerning whether Russians support the idea to boycott the Ukrainian goods and to stop trade relations with Ukrainian companies.

Forty-two percent of Russians would boycott Ukrainian goods untill the civil war ends; 49% oppose them. Those who support the idea to boycott the goods are residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg (54%), respondents with low income (53%), and supporters of A Just Russia party (53%). Those who perceive the idea negatively are supporters of non-parliament parties (69%), and respondents with high income (54-56%).

Russians are divided in their opinion on whether Russian companies should stop trade relations with Ukrainian companies (45% say they should; 40% say they should not). Those who are most categorical are respondents disapproving of the work of the president (54%), Muscovites and St.Petersburgians (54%). Those who say that Russian companies should go on their operations with Ukraine are residents of middle cities (50%), and respondents with income above average (49%).

The VCIOM opinion poll was conducted on June 28-29, 2014. 1600 respondents were interviewed in 130 communities in 42 regions of Russia. Data are weighted by gender, age, education, working status and type of settlement.  The margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
