IN BRIEF

Presidential approval rating is 63.2%; the Russian Government’s rating is 41.2%.

MOSCOW, October 5, 2018. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the ratings of politicians, assessments of the work of public institutions and attitudes towards the political parties.

The presidential approval rating is stable (around 63.2%). The Russian government and the Prime Minister’s work approvals have been updated and stand at 34.2% and 41.2%, respectively, within the established range.

The rating of trust in politicians is headed by Vladimir Putin (36.8%), followed by Sergey Shoygu (15.7% based on the September 24-30 data) and Sergey Lavrov (13.5%). Vladimir Zhirinovsky is at the top of the distrust rating (28.7%).

The United Russia electoral rating is 34.5% (this is an average based on the September 24-30 figures). The electoral support for KPRF is 17.6%, for LDPR 12%. The rating of A Just Russia party reached 6.1%.

The VCIOM-Sputnik surveys were conducted in July-September, 2018, involving Russians aged 18 and over. Till June 17th inclusively, 1,000 respondents were surveyed daily at least in 80 Russian regions. Starting from June 18th, 1,600 respondents were surveyed daily. A seven-day mean value is shown. The surveys were telephone-based and carried out using stratified dual-frame random sample based on a complete list of landline and mobile phone numbers operating in Russia. The margin of error at a 95% confidence level for this probability random sample does not exceed 1% for the data collected during seven days (11,200 persons). In addition to sampling error, minor changes in question wording and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork can introduce bias into the survey.
