Vladimir Putin retains the support of all main electorate groups.
MOSCOW, November 24, 2015. Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) presents the data of the survey devoted to the presidential approval and the United Russia party support ratings.
Vladimir Putin job approval rating got its maximum (87-88%). The number of approvals was increasing against the Crimean developments that took place in spring 2014. At the same time, the approval ratings have been high over sixteen years: the monthly average meanings have not got less than 60% since 1999.
Over the recent year and a half, this indicator has been high (above 84%). The presidential approval rating started increasing in March 2014 and reached 86% in May (from 64% in February); it was 87% in October 2015.
Those who have more approvals for the performance of V. Putin over the recent two years are respondents who have high income (increase from 45% in November 2013 to 82% in May 2015) and respondents with average income (increase from 63% to 88%, respectively). There has been an increase in the shares of the CPRF and CPRF supporters who favor the presidential work - from 31-39% in November 2013 to 82-85% in May 2015.
The electoral support for the United Russia party has also strengthened against the Crimea’s incorporation into Russia. However, the increase was not so significant, and the result was not fixed. In the beginning of 2014, the share made up 42-43% and reached 60% in May 2014 (monthly average). Compared to 2003, the growth is substantial (from 29% in 2003). At the same time, in contrast to the presidential rating, the number of the United Russia party supporters has changed. As early as in June 2014, the party rating plunged to 55% followed by a period of slight fluctuations within 55-59% and then dropped to 52-53% in November.
Remarkably, among those groups of respondents who have low income the maximum support level, despite a substantial growth from 28% in November 2013, made up 48% in June 2014; since that time it has not gone down (not lower than 38% in November 2015). As to the elderly respondents’ group, the increase was less remarkable (from 45% in November 2013 to 55% in June 2014); today the value is lower than in other age groups (47%).
