Russians’ expectations from the work of the Accounts Chamber headed by Kudrin are moderately positive.
MOSCOW, June 4, 2018. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the data of a survey describing what Russians know about Alexey Kudrin and what they expect from the Accounts Chamber under his direction.
On May 22, 2018, by proposal of the President of the Russian Federation, Alexey Kudrin was appointed by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly as head of the Accounts Chamber. Fifty-six percent of Russians know about that.
Three-quarters of Russians (74%) know who Alexey Kudrin is. Those who know his name remember him as a finance minister/member of the Government (38%).
Twenty-nine percent of Russians assess his performance positively; 13% have negative attitudes; a further 31% are indifferent.
About a quarter of Russians (23%) expect the Accounts Chamber to perform better under Kudrin’s direction; only 5% are skeptical; 29% do not expect any changes in the work of this supervisory body.
The VCIOM-Sputnik survey was conducted on May 27028, 2018, and involved 2,000 Russians aged 18 and over. The survey was telephone-based and was carried out using stratified dual-frame random sample based on a complete list of landline and mobile phone numbers operating in Russia. The data were weighted according to selection probability and social and demographic characteristics. The margin of error at a 95% confidence level does not exceed 2.2%. In addition to sampling error, minor changes in question wording and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork can introduce bias into the survey.
