MOSCOW, 26 September 2022. Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) presents the findings of a survey describing how much money Russians spent on their summer vacation this year.
The average summer vacation lasted 30 days this year, which is the average vacation time. Since 2018 this figure has been fluctuating between 28 and 33 days. This year women had more days off (32 days vs 28 days among men); older Russians also had longer vacations (46 days), whereas the 35-44-year-olds had a shorter vacation (21 days). In addition, the length of vacation also depends on the place of living: people living in northern parts (North Western, Ural and Siberian Federal districts) enjoyed longer vacations - 32, 34 and 37 days respectively. This is due to longer vacations in these areas. Respondents traveling in a group point to 4 persons in their company (3 persons in 2021; 4 persons in 2020).
This year the average summer vacation cost 38,605 rubles per person; this sum has not changed much compared to last year (38,858 rubles), but it is higher (+ 6,013 rubles, or +18%) than in 2020.

VCIOM-Sputnik Russian nationwide telephone survey was conducted 3-4 September, 2022. A total of 1,600 Russians aged 18 and over took part in the survey. Survey method: telephone interviews using a stratified random sample based on a complete list of mobile phone numbers in use in Russia. The data were weighted according to social and demographic characteristics. The margin of error at a 95% confidence level does not exceed 2.5%. In addition to sampling error, minor changes to the wording of questions and different circumstances arising during the fieldwork can introduce bias into the survey.
September 3, 2022 survey key effectiveness indicators: cooperation rate (CR)* = 0.8590; minimum response rate (MRR)** = 0.0242; response rate (RR)*** = 0.1691.
Calculations based on the corporate standard https://profi.wciom.ru/principy_standarty/korporativnyj-standart-po-izmereniyu-rezultativnosti-oprosov-sputnik-vciom/
* CR: the number of complete interviews divided by the sum of: а) complete interviews and b) non-interviews with eligible respondents.
** MRR: the number of complete interviews divided by the sum of: а) complete interviews, b) interrupted interviews after successful screening and c) all the respondents where it is unknown whether they meet the selected criteria or not.
***RR: RR is calculated in the same way as MRR, with the only difference that the number of respondents with unknown eligibility decreases proportional to the percentage of eligible cases in the total number of respondents with identified eligibility or non-eligibility.
